Fabulosos Cadillacs Plan Album, Tour

A rumor began to circulate throughout Buenos Aires on Friday (April 4): the Fabulosos Cadillacs are getting back together.
The band that became famous in Argentina in the late eighties and who propelled Latin rock into the international spotlight in the next decade were coming back with a new album and an international tour, six years after their last concert at the Foro del Sol in Mexico City.
The most-listened to rock radio program in Buenos Aires, on FM station Rock & Pop, was the first to announce the comeback. News channel TN reported the comeback that night as well, and the next day it was on the front of the national newspaper, Clarín. Finally, Sony BMG took the unusual step of confirming the news over the weekend.
On Saturday, the label sent out a statement announcing that Los Fabulosos Cadillacs is rehearsing and preparing a new album, which will be recorded in August and released in October. The band -- Vicentico (vocals), Flavio Cianciarulo (bass), Sergio Rotman (sax), Mario Siperman (keyboards), Fernando Ricciardi (drums) and Daniel Lozano (trumpet) -- also has touring plans in the works. Starting in November, the group will trek across Latin America, the United States and Spain.
Billboard has also learned that the tour will start the first week of November with two concerts at Mexico City's Foro Sol, followed by stadium shows in Colombia, Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panamá, Ecuador, Perú, Chile and possibly the United States, with a performance at the end of the year in Buenos Aires at the River Plate soccer stadium.
The second half of the tour will take place in 2009 in cities in Spain, Germany, Switzerland and the U.S., with an expected return to Mexico. The tour will be organized by Pop Art, the same promoters behind the Argentine group Soda Stereo's hugely successful reunion tour in 2007.
The news of the Cadillacs' comeback arrives just one week after the sudden death of the band's percussionist Gerardo 'Toto' Rotblatt, who was 38 years old. He was found dead in his home of a heart attack.

Confirmada la nueva etapa de LFC, no se puede catalogar como un reencuentro ya que nunca hubo una separación. La grabación del nuevo disco con algún tema nuevo será en agosto y publicado en octubre.
La gira comienza en México desde noviembre, se extenderá gran parte de 2009 cubriendo Latinoamérica, Estados Unidos y Europa, en los días venideros se darán a conocer todas las fechas y lugares.

Habrá nuevo disco, en octubre, y gira de recitales

El que se va sin que lo echen vuelve sin que lo llamen. Aunque fueron muchos los que llamaron a Los Fabulosos Cadillacs y que ahora se ponen contentos al enterarse del regreso de la banda.
El recital más reciente del grupo fue en 2002, en México. A pesar de que sus integrantes nunca hablaron de disolución, seis años no pareció un simple recreo. Pero aquí están otra vez, juntos, con ensayos, el anuncio de un nuevo álbum y una extensa gira. Como ocurrió con el tan dilatado, pero, al mismo tiempo, esperado regreso de Soda Stereo, después de tantos rumores y desmentidas Los Fabulosos Cadillacs vuelven al ruedo.
La gente de la compañía discográfica debe estar chocha (los dos grupos están fichados en el mismo sello). Incluso, ya le sacaron lustre al espectacular currículum de la banda -11 álbumes de estudio, casi tres millones de unidades vendidas, incluidos discos en vivo y recopilaciones, más de 1200 shows presentados alrededor del mundo- y a las novedades.
Habrá nuevo álbum de los Cadillacs, que sería grabado a mediados de este año y que se publicaría en octubre próximo. El material incluiría temas de estreno y éxitos del repertorio del grupo, en nuevas versiones.
En esta nueva etapa, la formación está integrada por el cantante Vicentico, el bajista Flavio Cianciarulo, el saxofonista Sergio Rotman (que regresa a la banda tras su partida hace poco más de diez años), el tecladista Mario Siperman, el baterista Fernando Ricciardi y el trompetista Daniel Lozano. El percusionista Gerardo Rotblat había integrado esta lista hasta su fallecimiento, días atrás. "Toto", como todos lo conocían, había ingresado en 1990, tras la partida de Luciano Jr.
Las reuniones previas a este regreso de los Cadillacs fueron a mediados de 2006, para la grabación del tema "La parte de adelante", que integró el álbum de tributo a Andrés Calamaro. Y luego en un programa radial de Flavio.
Si 2007 fue el año Soda y seguramente 2008 será el año Cadillacs, ¿ya se puede ir apostando por los candidatos del rock y el pop vernáculo para 2009? |
